esta sexta-feira às 22 horas, um grupo de pomba-giras se encontrará em baixo dos arcos da lapa para investigar o bairro. encantando, seduzindo e enfeitiçando quem estiver passando pelos arcos, as pomba-giras preencherão seus formulários místicos para entender melhor o estado espiritual do bairro nesta nova época de reforma urbana.
inspirada no espírito malandro da lapa, nas limpezas do choque de ordem e no conceito de “surrealismo etnográfico,” a performance pesquisas lapeanas: pomba-giras visa criar um registro sobre um momento na vida do bairro. através da interação de espíritos tradicionais com frequentadores atuais da lapa, a essência do bairro e sua recente padronização são questionadas.

a performance será realizada sexta-feira, dia 4 de fevereiro, a partir das 22 horas, em baixo dos arcos da lapa entre a rua riachuelo e avenida mém de sá. ainda há tempo para participar: pomba-giras ou documentaristas interessados, por favor entrem em contato.
this friday at 10 pm, a group of pomba-giras will meet under the lapa aqueduct in order to investigate the neighborhood. enchanting, seducing, and bewitching whoever passes through the arches, the pomba-giras will fill out their mystical forms in order to better understand the spiritual state of the neighborhood in this new era of urban reform.
inspired by lapa's trickster spirit, the cleansing of the "shock of order" campaign, and the concept of "ethnographic surrealism," the performance lapa research: pomba-giras aims to register a moment in the life of the neighborhood. through the interaction of traditional spirits with modern-day passers-by, the performance will question the essence of the neighborhood and its recent standardization.
(a few hours after posting, i realized that i hadn't explained what a pomba-gira is so that english speakers could understand. they're female trickster spirits, very connected to the streets and to human appetites (especially for alcohol, smoke, and sex). they represent exactly the kind of "malandragem" (trickery, mischief, etc) that's being cleaned up these days, so it seemed only fair to give them a research study of their own. as a conscientious grad student, it's the least i can do.)
